Dog and cat dematting in Marshall County, Indiana

Mats are not just tangles. They pull on the skin every time the pet moves, trap moisture underneath, and hide sores, ticks, and infection. Doodles, long-haired cats, and any dog that swims in a lake all summer are the usual candidates.

Dematting is a $25 add-on. We assess the coat first and tell you honestly what we recommend before we start.

What the visit covers

  • Coat and skin assessment before any work begins
  • Careful line brushing on light, workable tangles
  • A short clip-off where mats are tight to the skin — humane comes before pretty
  • Bath and dry once the coat is free
  • A plan for brushing at home and a schedule to stay ahead of it

Why it is easier in the van

  • One pet at a time means we can take breaks instead of racing the clock.
  • You are steps away if we need to talk through a haircut decision mid-groom.
  • Severely matted pets skip the car ride, which is a mercy on already sore skin.

Common questions

Will you brush the mats out instead of shaving?
If they are light, yes. If a mat is tight against the skin, brushing it out hurts and can tear the skin. In that case we clip short — the coat grows back.
How do I stop it happening again?
Brush to the skin, not just over the top, two or three times a week, and keep to a six-to-eight-week grooming schedule. We will show you the spots that mat first on your particular pet.
